Paul Zindel’s The Effect Of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the -Moon Marigolds premiered in Houston in 1964, but didn’t come to the attention of the Pulitzer committee until its 1970-72 Off-Broadway run. The story of young Tillie Hunsdorfer, her Atomic Age science experiment, and her dysfunctional immediate family, the play won the 1971 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and so is the subject for this week’s episode of Chosen by Committee.
