Need to get in the spirit? Want something a little different this holiday season? Celebrate in style and satire with Act II Playhouse’s MAKING SPIRITS BRIGHT. Presented in variety-show style with skits, songs, and improv sessions, this show is downright funny. The show has it all with a look at the truth behind a couple’s gift giving habits, a tongue-in-cheek critique of a children’s production, and on-the-money impersonations; not to mention the thankfully lesser-known songs of the season and no longer private letters to Santa from well-known folks that had even the most polite viewers laughing. The actors keep the audience invested throughout the show including their suggestions in an improv session and a (hilarious) deeper look into a fellow audience member’s life.
Directed by Mary Carpenter, the cheery set (Mary Roche) provided the perfect vessel for the talented actors Tony Braithwaite (a la Artistic Director), Howie Brown (Managing Director to boot), Will Dennis, Sonny Leo, and Ann Wechsler to do what they do best – entertain.
