Today, Frank Gilroy may be best known as the father of screenwriters Tony Gilroy (Bourne series, Michael Clayton, Star Wars: Rogue One) and Dan Gilroy (Nightcrawler, Freejack) and film editor John Gilroy. His other claim to fame is his 1965 Pulitzer-winning play The Subject Was Roses, and autobiographic depiction of a soldier coming back from World War II to his parents dysfunctional but loving home.
