Tiny Dynamite’s A Play A Pie A Pint makes a welcome return with THE AUDIENCE DISTURBS MARCEL’S BATHTIME AND HE’S VERY UPSET WITH YOU ALL, a one-man show which fits the series well.
The conceit is simple. We get a slice of pizza and a drink, then a short play, staged early in the evening. Ryan Bultrowicz’a play is short, funny, and pretty much as it says on the box. The (shower) curtain opens to Marcel (Charlie DelMarcelle) getting in a claw foot bath. He notices the audience and is upset. His wife Emilia (Meghan Winch) seems not to see us, hilarity ensues.
It’s silly, and DelMarcelle heightens the silliness with some improvised audience interaction. But Bultrowicz mixes the comedy with some intriguing questions about our oversharing culture and bodily health (“Does anyone even know the meaning of privacy?”). Still, the overriding feeling in director Kathyn MacMillan;s staging is fun. Cheers.
