[64] MOSES(ES) (Reggie Wilson/Fist & Heel Performance Group): Fringe Review

Moses(es) Reggie Wilson Fist & Heel Performance GroupThey are some of the oldest and most widely known stories in the books. They are stories of migrations, grueling journeys, and burning destinies.  They are about freeing wrongly enslaved groups of people, and serving justice to the innocent.  They are the stories of Moses, many MOSES(ES), and all kinds of brave souls like him.  With hyper-modern and culturally blended dance, Reggie Wilson and his Fist & Heel Performance Group attempt to tell these stories in a singular show.

Deafening Hebrew, blues, and soul, are heard in music and spoken word over the speakers; dancers in red polka-dotted outfits jump, spin, prod, and even get into fetal position on stage. The dots in the costumes may have attempted to connect the dancers in some way, but the anti-climactic ending leaves us a little empty. Still, the technically diverse group of dancers capture with style and facial expressions alone. [Suzanne Roberts Theatre] September 19-21, 2013, fringearts.ticketleap.com/moses.
