A Day to Play: P&P’s 24-Hour Play Festival

24HourFeatUpdatedPlays & Players Theatre reboots from the Fringe Fest (or at least rides its coat-tails) with their Second Annual Fringe Recovery 24-Hour Play Festival. The festival features plays created from scratch in just one day: A playwright writes throughout the night, actors rehearse all morning and afternoon, and the show premieres with two shows Saturday night, October 4, 2014.

The theme of this year’s festival is NAKED, which according to the company refers to “what happens when artists rid their inhibitions, follow their instincts, and create art in such a condensed time frame”. Or the old bait and tackle, depending on your interpretation. A collection of varied writers, directors, and actors, from recent college graduates to theater professors—all members of Plays & Players—will provide their own take. The result won’t be polished, but it should be fun. [Skinner Studio of Plays and Players, 1714 Delancey Place] October 4, 2014; playsandplayers.org.
