For those of you that are in the mood for something a little different, Unattended Baggage’s The Bed Show provides a delightfully immersive peek into “bed culture.” Creator and co-host Sean Pollock (disclaimer: he’s a friend. Sometimes that’s hard to avoid in Philly!) defines bed culture as “all things related to the bed.” This includes dreams, sex, sleepover, intimacy, the mattress industry, and sleep. He, along with co-host Nuria Hunter, are experts at bringing making the audience feel comfortable and ready to have a good time.
The show’s structure borrows from Neo-Futurist theater; think Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind. The various segments have a nice contrast of tones and form so the hour run-time flies by. Prepare to listen to some stories, play some sleepover games, and share about your own experiences with, in, and on beds
The show travels around the city with different cohosts and in different bedrooms. So getting to see some cool Philly houses is an added perk!
