Fringe Forecast: New podcast discusses Fringe Fest reviews, previews, and history

A pilot podcast led by Phindie contributor Julia Taus and University of Pennsylvania producer Taylor Durham hit the internet today. Hosted by Julia, the Fringe Forecast focuses on the ongoing Philadelphia Fringe Festival.

To begin, Julia interviews Andrew Simonet, former artistic director of influential Philadelphia company Headlong Dance Theater and a participant in the Fringe in its early years. Andrew discusses the history of the Fringe and its enduring relevance, among other topics.

Julia then welcomes Phindie editor Christopher Munden and arts administrator Benjamin Behrend for a critical discussion of The Wooster Group’s The B-Side: “Negro Folklore from Texas State Prisons,” A Record Album Interpretation (read Phindie review by Toby Zinman). The panelists then give recommendations for shows to see this weekend of the Fringe Festival.

Fringe Forecast will return for two more episodes. Listen and follow on Soundcloud.
