Asya Zlatina’s new work STORM is sophisticated and well-done. To the seven movements of The Planets by Gustav Holst, Asya and her fellow-dancers depict seven powerful emotions. Greg Anmuth and Daniella Place dance liveliness of a childhood to Mercury, and Sybill Geddes and Asya Zlatina visualize power and serenity of women to Venus. A cruel war erupts (Mars) then the blessing of complete joy is danced (Jupiter). Asya’s solo “The Bringer of Old Age” (Saturn) shows the struggle and misery of the unavoidable fate of aging. A duo piece (Neptune) by Asya and Greg Anmuth shows a fierce passion and intimacy in a power game between two people. The dance ends by Asya holding a total control over Greg’s fate and life, evoking the choice and control we each have over our destiny and our life.

The program also presents two short pieces, “Passage” and “Rough Tough Baby”, performed by Asya’s students.  The whole performance is entertaining and powerful for anyone at any stage of their life
