Chickabiddy to Perform in the MANTIS SINGER/SONGWRITER SHOWCASE at The Troc

Acoustic folk duo Chickabiddy has been busy! After playing at Milkboy on March 4, doing a half-hour of songs at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival 2016 registration launch at Le Peg Brasserie on the 7th, and submitting a video in January to the NPR Tiny Desk Concert Competition, Chickabiddy will be one of ten up-and-coming local acts selected to perform in Praying Mantis Entertainment’s MANTIS SINGER/SONGWRITER SHOWCASE at The Trocadero on March 12. Doors open at 5 pm, with Chickabiddy scheduled to take the stage at 5:30, for a 25-minute set.

Multi-talented theater artists Aaron Cromie and Emily Schuman formed Chickabiddy in 2015. Named after her husband’s term of endearment for Mrs. Tarleton, a character Schuman played in Idiopathic Ridiculopathy Consortium’s production of Misalliance by George Bernard Shaw, the duo writes and performs sensitive original songs with a bluegrass flavor and a bittersweet mood. Their spot-on vocal harmonies are beautifully accompanied by Schuman on guitar and Cromie on guitar and mandolin.

In addition to their work on live appearances and videos, Chickabiddy has been writing new material and will soon record their first EP. They are also planning a short summer tour outside of Philadelphia, which is sure to attract enthusiastic new followers, as will their upcoming performance at The Troc. Also on the bill for the March 12 showcase are James Cannon, Danielle and Jennifer, Spoken Life, Roslyn Creek, Ivy Rand, The Rescue, Owen Crowley, Bob Flood, and The Nimble Catsanother Philadelphia theater community favorite, featuring Ed Swidey, Cindy Spitko, and Josh Totora.
